Cottage Stars: Free Moda Bake Shop Tutorial

I have a new free quilt tutorial up on the Moda Bake Shop blog called Cottage Stars. It’s a Layer Cake-friendly tutorial and uses April Rosenthal’s new fabric line Mama’s Cottage. Between the pre-cut Layer Cake squares and a fun method to make 8 half-square triangles from a pair of 10″ x 10″ squares, the blocks come together pretty quickly.

I love the bright colors and cheerful stars and know this quilt will bring a smile to my face through the long winter. 🙂

Now, on to the giveaway! ***Update: Giveaway closed***

***Update: Giveaway closed: the winner has been announced on my instagram page***

After completing my Cottage Stars quilt, I had some Layer Cake squares and extra strips of the backing fabric left over. I’d love to share them with one of you! The U.S. Thanksgiving Day is on Thursday, so to enter the giveaway, leave a comment on this post telling me something unusual or different you are thankful for. As for me? I’m thankful for the color yellow. It hasn’t been a go-to color in the past, but lately I have really been appreciating the bright happy yellows that cheer me up in my life. 🙂

If you’d like another chance to enter, you can head over to my instagram post about my Cottage Stars quilt (@centerstreetquilts) and let me know something else you’re grateful for. I’ll be picking one winner from all the comments on this blog post and instagram on Friday morning.

Good luck and happy sewing!

  3. I’m grateful for my health. I went through a bad spell for a couple of years, so to have energy to get up each day, return of memory, and love of quilting, makes my day!!

  4. I’m grateful that I’m going to be a first-time grandma soon–our daughter is having twins–a boy and a girl.

  5. I’m thankful that I’ll be going to about 7 concerts in the next month and will have the chance to hear musicians from 5th grade up to adult professionals. For me, music makes Christmas extra special.

  6. So many things to b e grateful for! One is finding a blogging friend who would like to share their colorful, happy scraps with a reader! 💟

  7. I am thankful for my husband’s eye for arranging quilt blocks. I am good at planning and mass-producing blocks, but then I freeze when it comes to deciding how to arrange them. Husband to the rescue — and he’s good at it!
