Choose Your Own Adventure Quilt Along with Moda Bake Shop

Have you seen the fun we’ve been having on the Moda Bake Shop blog this summer? A few of the MBS Chefs have taken on roles as Camp Counselors in the Camp Oda May Choose Your Own Adventure summer quilt along.

We are all making a medallion quilt, but the twist is that each week there are two different pattern options (or paths) to take! I’m using this Smitten fat quarter bundle for mine and have loved sewing along these first two weeks.

I started with the Star Valley block for the center of my medallion quilt. That middle square works out really well for a fun, fussy cut print.

This week I added Cross Creek blocks around the start of my medallion quilt and am loving it. You might notice the small, white background border in between the center block and the Cross Creek blocks (below). There will be a small filler border like this at the end of each week, so if you’re joining in, make sure to watch for the posts with those instructions, too! Accuracy is really important in medallion quilts, so the filler borders are a great chance to adjust the size to make sure you’re on track for the next week’s blocks.

It has been such a joy to see everyone’s different versions on social media! There are a lot of participants sharing their quilt along progress over at the Moda Bake Shop Bakers facebook page. If you’re an instagram user, you can use the hashtag #chooseyourownadventureqal so other Camp Oda May summer campers can see your photos, too. And if you don’t have time to join in right now, the posts will always be available on the Moda Bake Shop blog, so you can start at any time. Happy sewing!
