Ever since I learned about the solar system in 3rd grade, I’ve had a deep interest with all things outer space. The release of the movie Apollo 13 in the 90s just solidified my obsession with NASA. I even got a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics because I had far off dreams of working at Mission Control one day.
So you can guess that when I realized Riley Blake Designs had a NASA quilt kit, I was all over that!
The NASA quilt kit comes with everything needed for the quilt top and binding (including full instructions!). The NASA logo is in a 36″ x 42″ panel and works perfectly for the center of the quilt. The borders are a breeze to put together with the coordinating prints in the kit and before I knew it, I had a quilt ready to be quilted! This fast kit would be the perfect project for a quick gift or for a beginner quilter to do on their own.
My NASA quilt was begging for a fun quilting design, so I found this fun swirly star design called Nightlight then finished it off with a constellations print for the binding.
After I snapped the last photos for this blog post, the quilt was quickly snapped up by my little boy and hasn’t been let down since. If you also have a NASA lover in your family, ask your local quilt shop about the NASA kit featuring Out of This World with NASA fabric.
